Presidents Report

Sorry about the muck up “missing bulletin” last week - an administrative error where the joint presidents got their wires crossed.

Guest speaker last week was our own member Danny O’Brien talking about the joys of flying and his travels in his light aircraft.

Last Friday we provided a sausage sizzle BBQ lunch for the students and staff of the Lightning Reef Primary School. It was a very successful day, and very much appreciated by Principal Julie Hommelhoff, her staff, and of course, the students. Many thanks to all the Rotarians who came and assisted, on what is always a rewarding day.

Pink Night

Evelyn Lehmann organised a fund-raising evening at her home for the Otis Foundation. The evening was great fun, full of laughs and lots of lovely pink cakes and champagne to consume. I’m sure Evelyn would be very pleased with the support given by our members. Some not-to-be missed photos…

Presentation to LCCASA. Last Monday the 14^th October, our club presented Loddon Campaspe Centre Against Sexual Assault with a cheque for $1000 in order to purchase figurines for their Sand Play Therapy program. Manager, Kate Wright, and her colleague, gave Co- Presidents Adrian and Toni a grand tour of their new spacious facility prior to the presentation. This funding will enable LCCASA to purchase more figurines so that a portable kit is available to be taken and used in their outreach centres.

Ride2Work Day

Great turnout of members today to help with the cooking of the egg and bacon rolls for the breakfast. It was a new location this year, as many of the council employees will be moving into the Bendigo Bank Building during the construction of the Council Hub. Mayor Margot O’Rourke attended and arrived on her electric bike.

Important Reminders

Patti Cotton’s East Timor Sewing Day is on 24^th October at the Mechanics Hall, School St, California Gully. 6-7 Volunteers are required from 8.30 to 9.15am to help to: -

Set up tables and chairs
Move bags of Knitting from our RANCH into the hall
Assist some ladies to park their cars and unload knitting

There is no real need to stay, but it’s a good, fun day, and you will enjoy excellent morning tea and lunch! Mayor Margaret O’Rourke will be there from mid-morning until after lunch.

Around 2pm the knitted goods will need to be transferred back to the RANCH.
Assistance required with packing up of tables and chairs as well as cleaning the hall. All should be finished by around 2.30/2.45pm.

Marist College Bendigo Training Exercise. The school is conducting training for students in practising Interviewing skills. The sessions will be on Thursday October 31 and Friday November 1 with morning tea and lunch provided. If you can assist please contact Ben Goode at bgoode@marist.vic.ed.au.

Rotary Walk to End Polio: Lake Neangar in Eaglehawk on Saturday 19^th October @ 10am.

Rotary Club of Bendigo Sandhurst ‘s AGM is scheduled to be held on 20th November, 2019.

Last week’s raffle winner was won by past president Graeme Lynas. Congratulations Graeme.

Fellowship Evening

Some photos of our Rotarians enjoying fellowship at Maurice and Pauline’s social evening on Saturday, 5^th October. It was a wonderful evening with fabulous food, exhilarating company and great conversations. It was terrific to see Jo Hinneberg at the function, as she is still recovering from her serious leg fractures.
