Hello everyone, from the wet country.
Hoping you are all above water when you read this! Or a good swimmer.
As you know now Jim has been diagnosed with Lymphoma a type of blood cancer and has started his first treatment this week. We are all thinking of him and his family at this trying time. As a club we will be monitoring his progress and assisting as needed. Jim will be continuing to arrange our speakers and attend via zoom when able.
Thanks to Chris who has offered to scribe for our guest speakers.
Unsure if any activities have occurred this week whilst l was up North with the Rochester Rotary Project.
A brief update from the trip
* Headed off at 5.30am on 23rd. Met with the Rochy crew and hit the road at 7am.
*Rain at intervals, pooling on sides but roads clear.
*Driving through, Forbes, Parkes and West Wyalong area it was like one big lake for 100s of kms.
*Peak Hill first sleepover.
Increasing levels in paddocks and covering some roads. These were blocked off.
* Onto Tenterfield -20k south of QLD Border. River levels were down , but had reached unbelievable heights.
Driving on some roads with masses of water flooding either side as far as you could see, fences totally hidden.
*Casino our next port. River had broken up large slabs and washed away a concrete road. Local Rotary President took us on a tour of the town and we shared dinner back at their home.
* Stew travelled up solo with another packed trailer full of donations . The plan was to meet up at the designated communities for the deliveries.
*Coraki next stop delivering the much-needed donations to this small community. Pop about 1,300.

Our monthly club forum creates an opportunity to update members on club activities for the coming months and further in some directorships
- In Service and Community, a busy few months ahead of us with multiple BBQ fund raisers being organised. Train Station, BJC, Anglicare, Food Share check with Kevin to see if you are available for his roster(s)
- Ray has managed to source some soccer boots to be sent to Timor Leste, knitting project continues to roll along
- Cathy on Stu’s behalf spelt out a healthy agenda that we are participating in for the Bendigo youth. For example Lightning Reef primary, RLYA, MUNA. Our club will play a role in support of some these programs at Camp Getaway setup, cooking etc
- Allie is organising Movie night fund raiser to combat Polio in early February.
- Swap meet, Ian has some vacant spots on his roster, please check with Ian on your availability.
- Treasurer Nick to issue invoices for annual subscriptions
- Fellowship, thanks to Cathy for organising, an evening out at the Gold mines hotel last Friday evening, good meals and good fun
