Guest Speakers

Bridgett Griffin and Frances Downie from InterReach. InterReach is a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) partner that supports participants to guide and navigate the NDIS.

InterReach was established in 1973, initially based in Deniliquin NSW; it has progressively grown from a small volunteer-based organisation to a large organisation with approximately 250 staff.  The organisation is new to Victoria and has been active in the Loddon area for nearly 2 years. It provides support locally in remote, rural and regional communities for individuals and families to improve social and personal well-being. InterReach also promotes and facilitates access to quality local services. Bridgett stated that their values were:
• Leadership – We lead by example and can be relied upon to do what we’ll say we’ll do
• Partnership – We work collaboratively to achieve positive change
• Social Justice – We protect and promote human rights, recognising that all people are free and equal in dignity and rights.

InterReach as a partner with NDIS, provide a family-centred (0-6 years) and person-centred (7-65 years) approach when supporting all individuals. They provide strength-based person-centred practice within their own environment. They assist the participant to develop their NDIS plan, support and empower them to implement the plan, thus providing them with choice and control over their service providers. InterReach tries to support all participants, regardless of NDIS access, to link to community and mainstream supports.
Both speakers combined to deliver a very interesting presentation, with many questions coming from our members.
Reminders:
  • RI President: Mark Daniel Maloney: - Dinner in Ballarat on 24th September.
  • Rotary Walk to End Polio: Two locations: Albert Park Melbourne and Lake Neangar in Eaglehawk on Saturday 19th October @ 10am.
