The guest speaker today was Rachel Mason – Events and Fundraising manager for OTIS.
The OTIS Foundation provides accommodation for people affected by breast cancer. It was started by Dr Barling after his wife died from breast cancer in 2000.
Twelve years later, Paul Gray’s wife – Kez – suggested Paul do something to help the OTIS Foundation.
Paul decided to build Kez’s Hideaway, and along with a generous donation of land from the Campbell family in Redesdale, as well as many other people supporting the project, the house has started. The expected finishing date is Spring this year.
This house will be able to provide accommodation all year round. Most of the other properties available to use are only available in off peak periods. The use of all these properties is donated, but the Foundation still needs to maintain the properties when people are using them.
Currently the Foundation has properties in Victoria, NSW and SA.
There are several ways people has support this project – Corporate Support, Donating money, purchasing household items or getting involved eg helping with tree planting.
Have a great week. Cathie
