On the spur of the moment, no guest speaker booked, I decided that we could honour the Past Presidents in town, by a hastily prepared Keynote for our new projector and screen, and ask Liz on Welcome to regale each PP with a medallion.

Huge apologies to John Cannon for leaving him off the Keynote presentation.

 

And, with Black Adder cunning [Boldrick] we appealed to the wisdom and experience of the meeting to complete the District 2017/18 Planning Guide, “live” thanks to facilitator Graeme and scribe Cathie.

 

 

 

 

 

ChangeOvers

I was advised to attend ChangeOvers, “to get the feel of other clubs and see how they operate”

Never a truer word was said.

 

My humble apologies to RC Bendigo Strathdale:

Having failed to make a diary note when Ken phoned me I misled Bernadette and we missed a great night at Braidie’s Tavern Strathfieldsaye.

 

Congratulations to tireless Greg Penno at Strath, and the inimitable Tony Plant at South, both awarded Paul Harris Recognition, and recognised as Paul Harris Fellows.

 

I rather lost count of the awards at RC Bendigo night.  Larrie, Glenn and Val certainly pulled off an extraordinarily elegant, formal evening on the Ulumbarra stage.

 

Liz at Kangaroo Flat has a refreshing band of devotees and did receive the George Waters Award for the best ChangeOver caterers’ meal.

 

On that note, I reckon that Pie and Port night would be an idea for Rochie ChangeOver.

 

And I’m looking forward to our great night Friday at The Metropolitan. Mark Weragoda is “all over it”.

Patients of rude surgeons experience more medical complications in the 30 days after surgery than patients who rate their surgeon’s behavior as respectful. Complications include infection, pneumonia, blood clots, and stroke, according to a team led by Vanderbilt University Medical Center researchers, who studied more than 32,000 patients at seven health systems. The disrespectful behavior affects other surgical team members, who are less likely to speak up about safety and other issues when working with that surgeon, say study authors.
