Hi everyone,
Great to see Dowell back today. We also welcomed Sally Fraser and Andrew Myers (Bruce & Sally’s son in law) to today’s meeting at Keech’s to see the 3 D printing.
Our host was Garth Keech along with Doug Baird.
Garth spoke about Keech’s history – 80 years old. They have been in Bendigo for 20 years and have been involved with 3 D printing for the past 3 years. They are now one of the leading 3D printers in Australia.
They recognised that they had to become involved in new technologies to survive and the 3 D printing commenced as an adjunct to their pattern making.
They are now exporting to a number of countries – including China, France and Canada to name a few.
Australia is well placed to continue developing and growing our technology and we need to do this to remain competitive.
A variety of printers are needed for the different products – paper, different types of plastic, metal. Keech’s have 4 printers for paper and plastics.
The applications for 3 D printing is continuing to grow and develop.
Thanks Garth and Doug for a really informative morning. Also thanks to Peter Elliott for organising the site visit

A reminder to get your comments regarding the Sergeant session to Conor before Monday as it will be discussed at the Board meeting.

Next week we will be doing a BBQ in Hargreaves Mall for Ride to Work Day instead of meeting at BRiT.  Could everyone please wear their Rotary shirts?

Have a great week and see you in the Mall next week.
Cheers,
Cathie
There will not be a meeting next week (15th October) due to our duties at the Ride to Work Day. Set up will be from 6.30am, with service of food from 7am to 8.30am. This is a free social event and we hold the record for outnumbering the bike riders. This is a make-up opportunity as well as free breakfast. See you there.

Swap Meet is fast approaching Friday 14th to Monday 17th November. Volunteers needed for many different duties, set-up, clean up and the usual BBQ's two BBQ captains needed.

SISTER MARY ANN'S GASOLINE

Sister  Mary Ann, who worked for a home health agency, was out  making her rounds visiting homebound patients when she ran  out of gas. As luck would have it, a Texaco Gasoline station  was just a block away.
She walked to the station to borrow a gas can  and buy some gas.  The attendant told her that the only  gas can he owned had been loaned out, but she could wait  until it was returned.  Since Sister Mary Ann was on  the way to see a patient, she decided not to wait and walked  back to her car.
She looked for something in her car that she  could fill with gas and spotted the bedpan she was taking to  the patient.  Always resourceful, Sister Mary Ann  carried the bedpan to the station, filled it with gasoline,  and carried the full bedpan back to her car.

As she  was pouring the gas into her tank, two Baptists watched from  across the street.  One of them turned to the other and  said,

'If it  starts, I'm turning Catholic!'
