Federation Picnic was a great day – very busy with a good outcome. Well done to everyone who helped on the day.

Today was a club forum day.
Club Service:
There are a few social activities being organised. More information will come out when times finalised.
Doug and Mark are updating our club bannerettes in line with the decisions that were made about our logo during Doug’s year. When this has been completed, new bannerettes will be ordered.
Judy updated everyone on the progress of the Valentine Ball meetings. They have been meeting fortnightly and every club is involved. Currently they are looking for sponsors. If anyone has any ideas/contacts, please speak to Judy or Martin.
Community Service:
Kevin gave a report on the Federation Picnic. We had such a good result because we sold out of everything. Around 600 sausages, 500 hamburgers and 60 vege burgers were sold as well as all the drinks. There were 1200 vehicles entered for the event which was up on last year. In total we raised $8500.00.
Upcoming events are the BBQ at Hume & Iser on Saturday. Volunteers are still needed for this.
We are doing the ride to Work BBQ for the council in October. The morning meeting will be cancelled for this. More details later in the bulletin.
Swap Meet – Martin advised that our commitment for the swap meet is 4 days from 14-17th Nov. On Oct 9th there will be training for site captains at Kangaroo Flat. Even if you have done this training before, you still need to attend as things change each year. If you have been a site captain before and willing to do it again, please see one of the Swap meet team.
We need EVERY ONE committed to this event, so please keep your diaries free.
Youth Services:
Currently there a 3 students wanting to attend RYPEN. Glenn is liaising with the other cluster Youth Services Directors to see who can help with financing these students.
A discussion was had about whether the club will take on another Exchange student. A suggestion was made that maybe we could get involved with the ROSE program that Eaglehawk run. Phil was asked to get a guest speaker to inform the members about this program.
Could members think about whether having an exchange student is something we want to get involved with again and feed your thoughts back to Glenn.
Vocational Service:
Gerard gave an update on the BBEA. He said the judges were impressed with the quality of the entries and were still in the process of completing the judging.
There is a good article in the Bendigo Enterprise magazine that talks about this being the 21st year of the BBEA. Gerard bought along some of the magazines for people to read.
International Service:
George Waters is the Foundation chair for this year and he will attend the Foundation dinner in Melbourne with Lindsay Murphy later this month.
Treasurer:
Most people have now paid their fees. The electronic banking has worked well – most of the members used it this year.
Brian reminded people that we have an agreement with TAFE that we pay for a minimum of 30 people at our meetings. There have been a few times recently where there have been less than thirty people and the club has therefore had to pay for the difference.
