MEETING NEWS

“Rain Rain Go Away, Come Again Another Day !!”

Well, What a [Wet] Rotary Day !!!

It’s all happening.

I managed to get to no less than five meetings, well, six, if you count a great chat to a charter member outside Stan Quinn’s fruitery, including one extraordinary gathering in the warm comfort of the Bendigo Bank at Strath Hill.

And, between meetings attempting to type up minutes and motions which would satisfy all board members.
[What a silly idea … nevertheless type away I did … ]

And meantime we all watch nervously the Avoca River at Graeme Lynas’ Charlton, peaking at seven metres, members having pitched in to clean up after the last flood.

Vahlands Bistro was a buzz yet again, with a robust board meeting in progress, and the usual noisy RCoBS fellowship.

International we are:  Martin flew in from Hong Kong and  Kevin Reade’s off to Germany to INNOTRANS “The Future of Transport”

Ray Carrington, Adrian Schoo and I met Peter the manager at Radius Eaglehawk and then took our camera and tape measure to “Patti’s Den” as surveyors towards an opinion from Gerard House. We learned that Radius hand-bale tonnes [tonnes] of clothing/material, and a new baler would be “gold” to such a wonderful organization.

Thence to Bendigo Bank to set up special account for the motor vehicle District Grant

Then dash across town to Youth Services at Martin Ruffell’s Jewellery. [Martin did turn down the offer of the iconic 14 Million dollar hand-crafted watch displayed in HK]

Youth Services and Weeroona College “marriage” is looking very exciting. This looms as a very satisfying local project over several years.

Meantime, DIK Footscray have their volunteers ferreting around trying to satisfy Adrian Schoo’s Excel sheet wish list for The Solomon Islands, courtesy Balwyn RC container leaving in October.

And, it’s that time of the year again:
Markets Committee meet at Evelyn’s home [always a delight with her hospitality] to commence planning for Australia Day and Easter 2017.

Madeline, from Basement On View family is studying inter alia Events Management and has been co-opted into “Evelyn’s Crew”.

And, Linda, who owns and runs the Night Markets in Bendigo has not escaped George and we are to meet to swap market ideas.

Latrobe University students of IT are on our radar to conduct tutorials on “How to use Social Media”, to complement similar venture at Weeroona College.

One day, we shall have a revamped website.
“Rivers know this: there is no hurry. We shall get there some day.”
