Welcome to the New Rotary Year,  the cold weather, travelling Rotarians and closeness to changeover may have all contributed to our smaller numbers this morning , or was it yours truly scaring them off…

No guest speaker  and a club forum lite edition made for a relaxing meeting first up.  Thanks to Martin who updated us on the progress with the reading in schools program and the continued development of the relationship with Weeroona College and Adrian who is looking for projects or opportunities under  vocational service .

Mark Weragoda is our on to conference coordinator and reiterated the opportunity for Rotarians from our club to participate in the conference next year.   To help members and partners the opportunity to put money aside to cover conference costs, treasurer Phil will be able to take part payments towards your conference fees, fortnightly or monthly.  We'll get more info to you on this in the coming weeks. .

Nick Christian has taken on the task of guest speaker/ programing and he will need your help throughout the year to identify possible guest speakers.  Please forward any ideas to Nick,

We have an invite from The Four Melbourne Rotaract clubs to their combined changeover function called, “Our Space” on August 1st. Our Space is a chance for us Rotaractors to celebrate and to showcase our passions for Rotary and Rotaract and feature all four Rotaract Clubs in our district with the Rotaract Clubs of Melbourne City, Gateway, Bayside and Swinburne providing an insight of their plans for the upcoming Rotary year, see attached flyer, if anyone would like to attend.

Have a great week

Paul

Hello Rotarians,

My name is Cameron Williams and I am the District Rotaract Representative(DRR) for 9800. I would like to formally invite you to Rotaract’s biggest night of the year our 9800 DISTRICT ROTARACT CHANGEOVER called, “Our Space” on August 1st. Our Space is a chance for us Rotaractors to celebrate and to showcase our passions for Rotary and Rotaract. Our Space will feature all four Rotaract Clubs in our district with the Rotaract Clubs of Melbourne City, Gateway, Bayside and Swinburne providing an insight of their plans for the upcoming Rotary year.

Our Space will also be celebrating Rotaract’s involvement in other Rotary projects such as RYLA, RYPEN, MUNA, and other fantastic Rotary projects.

Our passion for helping the community couldn’t be possible without the opportunities Rotary have provided us and we would be honoured to have your presents at Our Space. You will have the opportunity to speak to young inspiring adults about their experiences within Rotary and how much they have gathered thanks to the opportunities Rotary has provided.

Our 2015 Rotary International Expo will be held in Shed A the Queen Victoria Market on Sunday 12th July. Clubs from our District and others in Southern Region have pulled together to present this Expo of high impact, sustainable projects to showcase to the public and to share with District International Directors, incoming Directors and interested new members.
A key objective this year is to use this wonderful venue to enable us to increase public awareness about Rotary.
We will keep you updated with the Rotary International Expo Facebook page www.facebook.com/rotaryinternationalexpo.
This is a day to share Rotary with families and friends with a social conscience and a love for the community.
There are, of course, lots of shopping opportunities, fresh fruit and vegies, market specials, plus the opportunity to gather with your friends, listen to jazz and Timorese musicians, meet our District Leadership Team, and gain insights from hardworking and inspirational project teams who help poor communities in far flung places.
You can also help the people of Vanuatu and Nepal by donating to projects helping to rebuild shattered lives.
regards
Mark

One day a man goes to a pet shop to buy a parrot. The assistant takes the man to the parrot section and asks the man to choose one. The man asks, ''How much is the yellow one?''

The assistant says, ''$2000.'' The man is shocked and asks the assistant why it's so expensive. The assistant explains, ''This parrot is a very special one. He knows typewriting and can type really fast.''

''What about the green one?'' the man asks.

The assistant says, ''He costs $5000 because he knows typewriting and can answer incoming telephone calls and takes notes.''

''What about the red one?'' the man asks.

The assistant says, ''That one's $10,000.''

The man says, ''What does HE do?''

The assistant says, ''I don't know, but the other two call him boss.''
