Wednesday evening, and I'm sitting in the foyer of our magnificent Ulumbarra Theatre, listening to Weeroona College orchestra, and the

gaggle of students and families anticipating what we used to call Speech Night.

 

I'm to present awards to four students. 

Fortuitously I found some very special paper, hand made, at Radius Eaglehawk, for the Award Certificates.

 

Well … What a humbling delightful experience, Awards Night Weeroona College Bendigo..

 

Our contribution was RCOBS Service Above Self Award … presented to a student in each learning community who has consistently demonstrated

the College values of Respect, Integrity and Personal Excellence throughout the year.

        Cooper Bennett

        Kaitlin Biggs

 

“Sunday Roast” guitars, drums and vocals really rocked Ulumbarra’s sound system to the delight of teen screams as the evening finale.

 

Gordon McKern and the new Ulumbarra Foundation would have been gladdened to witness “our” theatre play host to “these kids”.

 

Roll on 2017 to our Board and Youth Services working with Weeroona College Bendigo.

 

Presidency

 

We welcomed Conor Cunningham (looking very relaxed and well) back “to the fold”, today, as retired President.

 

He has agreed to my taking over the reins as president for an eighteen month term, effective January 1, 2017.

 

The board for 2017/18 is still a work in progress.

 

 

Bendigo Health Open Day

Our B&K Catering Team set up a perfect “MKR Kitchen”.

 

Thank you to all the members who generously attended on the day .. A Saturday out of their private lives …

 

Perfect weather;

Lots of balloons {Maurice Woodburn receives the jumping-with- long-tongs award to retrieve errant escapees;}

Smiles and appreciation all around as yet another well-corralled tour group emerged;

Bgo Health volunteers a plenty in blue;

Smiling cheerful polis and ex-polis, afore the cameras;

Schaller Studio serving real coffee;

Jane and Kiri enthusiastically heading up Foundation Team;

Drinks on ice to accompany Egg n Bacon rolls. Hamburgers, Snags, Vegie Burgers and Hot Dogs with Reade’s MILD Mustard.

 

I grabbed an “09:50” ticket for a “level 2” tour:

Having been in and around intensive care units for nigh on forty years, ICU at Bendigo Health is very impressive.

 

Knitting

Next step is proposal to RCOBS Eaglehawk re storage for garments between the ladies’ workshops at Mechanics Institute California Gully.

 

 

Timor-Leste

My mind was spinning after the monthly Bendigo Maubisse Friendship Committee meeting, and the where-it-all-happens

Old-Green-Bean coffee afterwards, on Friday:.

Watch this space. [Relax:  No expensive big projects in mind]

 

The Nissan Patrol (Food and Nutrition Timor-Leste Project), has arrived at Dili wharf, and, dockers willing, will be adorned in

resplendent Rotary livery by the weekend ready for handover to the Carmelite Sisters.

 

The ever-enthusiastic Member for Leongatha will be representing Rotary International at the blessing of the wheels.
