Co-presidents report 19 June, 2025
At our last board meeting we approved financial support for the following:
- Reusable emergency accommodation/storage cabins for SW Queensland flood victims in D9560 & D9620
- In-principle support for NSW flood victims in D9660. Specific support by RCOBS is to be resolved very soon with this district.
Both of these District Disaster Funds’ projects/activities will be administered and overseen by Rotary committees in their respective states. Support for flood victims in both states is expected to be of a long-term nature, given the devastation that has occurred
- Blue Kangaroo School project in Uganda to support training and registration of teachers over the next 2 years
- Camp Getaway for a planned games room
- Bendigo Health Palliative Care Auxiliary to support the purchase of a cuddle bed
- A water filter for St.Vincent De Notre Dame Primary school and the local community living in Ambovombe, Madagascar
- Bendigo Health Gobbe Centre to provide beneficial massage and reflexology sessions in support of cancer patients
Cathie and Allie presented on the club structure for the coming Rotary year. Different models of leadership in relation to members taking on presidential and committee positions were discussed. Some further discussion will be held in coming weeks to finalise how we operate in the future.
Just to remind you that there has been a welcome change in the delivery of the Rotary Down Under magazine. Apart from an online publication, members can now elect to also receive free hard copies by post. Please let Treasurer Madeleine know of your preference, and let Secretary Paul know if any of your contact details have changed recently.
Club Changeover: This is to be held again at Camp Getaway, this time on the last Sunday in June, at 12 noon for 12.30pm. If you haven’t done so already, please RSVP straight away to Kevin Dobson for catering purposes.
See you again next week.
