President’s Report

Many thanks to Cathie for conducting a tutorial via Zoom on Club Runner. The feedback was that the lower level of instructions was more appreciative for our members. Cathie has also offered her services for one on one training;

Great turnout for Anzac Day Dawn Service.

Thanks to all who attended last week’s Reclink football match, again very much appreciated by all and sundry. The Reclink organization is in the process of organizing a mini carnival in May involving around 200 players, they have asked us to cook a BBQ (no drinks) for them between 11:oo am and 2:pm, more details to follow.

Again many thanks to all who helped out on Goovin the Moo BBQ at the train station on Saturday night. At one stage there were 22 helpers in the tent. After a slow start the action certainly picked in the second part of the evening. As the oracle (Kev) mentioned more than once “if they don’t come early, they come later” and they did. A good night had by all, lots of banter and laughter

COLIBAN CHANNEL CAR RALLY

SUNDAY MAY 15

Come and explore some historical features of the Coliban Water Channel as we wind our way from Malmsbury to Kangaroo Flat.

We will visit historic sites at Malmsbury, Taradale, Sedgwick and Kangaroo Flat.

We will start at Malmsbury Botanical Gardens at 9.00am.

We will finish at Kangaroo Flat and we will share a picnic lunch.

Each car to bring a share plate.

Please wear sturdy shoes as we will do a little walking on uneven ground. If you are a little unsteady on your feet a walking stick would be of assistance.

The pre-screening of the movie “The Duke” was a special Rotary event to support the RI Foundation’s “End-Polio-Now” project.

The event took place on the evening of Tuesday 29^th March 2022 and was attended by 123 Rotarians, partners and friends from the Rotary Clubs of Bendigo, Bendigo Sandhurst, Bendigo South, Castlemaine, Eaglehawk and Rochester.

Tickets were sold for $20 each and, due to the generosity of Bendigo Cinemas we were able to retain $10 of each ticket sold for the “End-Polio-Now” cause.

Although 123 people attended the event, our sums indicate that 142 tickets were sold. This means that an additional 19 tickets were purchased by people that for some reason could not attend. I know that some from various Rotary Clubs could not attend because of Covid-19 insolation and/or close-contact restrictions.

In the overall wash-up, our combined efforts raised just over $1,600 for the “End-Polio-Now” cause. A cheque or electronic transfer for the total amount raised will be forwarded to RI on behalf of the Goldfields Cluster Clubs in the very near future.
