Industry Visit- Crusoe Reservoir (Wednesday March 22nd 8AM)

This Industry visit follows the interest of members in the history of the supply of water to Bendigo. Some little while ago we had Geoff Russell, the author of "Water for Gold", as our guest. This was followed by a car rally which stopped off at various points of interest along the Coliban Channel. Members will be guided around points of interest by Ranger, Blair Venn, from 8AM until 9AM. Crusoe Reservoir is in Crusoe Road, Kangaroo Flat, on the left coming from Bendigo towards the end of the built up area. There should be sufficient parking in the carpark, however depending on numbers some members may need to park on Crusoe Road.

Members are advised to wear sturdy shoes as we will be walking on some uneven ground. All participants are invited to return to the restaurant section of PepperGreen Farm around 9.30AM for breakfast. Please contact Jim Rolfe (0407554263) if you have any queries.
President's report

Welcome back again to another week of planning events.

  • It was a wet start to the garden cleanup at Rochester on Sunday morning but cleared enough to achieve some work. Heather reported 6 gardens were pruned and tidied from the cluster clubs. Many thanks to Adrian, Madeleine, Stew and Tony for assisting us in this task. Some more days will be planned before the winter months arrive.
  • It's good to see some WWC forms are being completed. Can please check if John Harkin has seen your updated card.
  • I had a brief meeting with Stew and Tilda, our applicant for the Rotary Youth Sailing Challenge. She is a very motivated vibrant young student and we wish. her well with her application
  • On a sadder note, Paul Henderson's father has passed away recently, and we offer our condolences to his family at this difficult time.
  • Another RAWKs meeting was held on Monday night, where a grant of $15,000 has been approved for some social evenings to assist Mental Health in the area. This is to support 3 evenings for Men, Farmers and Business people.
  • As the Emergency accommodation in Elmore will finish in August, alternative temporary places are being reviewed with some possible pods/units being sourced.
  • Have a relaxing week and allow that sunshine to filter through your bodies.

Take care, Pres Judy.

From President Elect Adrian

  • The club forum in its new format went well and there was enough time set aside to clarify, comment and discuss raised issues. Also, club members supported the idea to distribute the Foundation auction funds raised in August last year equally between the three Foundation fund raising programs to support Pakistan, Ukraine and Turkey/Syria.
  • During the recent leadership training for presidents-elect the presentation by Mark Anderson, Rotary International and member of RC of Beecroft, stood out as it is so applicable to the challenges issues many clubs are facing. He used the RC of Beecroft as an example on how they turned the club around and how they made it central to the community. The website is worth visiting (https://www.beecroftrotary.com.au/).
  • A reminder in relation to the Crusoe Reservoir visit next week, details in the bulletin. Hope to see good numbers attend.
  • A reminder that Madeleine Schoo is now responsible for financial requests for payment, with electronic copies of the invoice along with the requests for payment form.  Any other financial matters can also be directed to Madeline as well, please.

Many thanks.

Adrian
