The committee have started looking at ideas for the Christmas break-up and would like feedback from the members about some ideas. Contact one of the committee members if you have some thoughts around this. The committee members are:
Judy, Danny, Ray, George, Liz, John Pacher and Mark.
Our guest speaker today was David Lloyd with David Stretch assisting him.
David spoke about the new Ulumbarra Theatre. The theatre is part of the Capital Venues and Events which is comprised of The Capital, Ulumbarra Theatre, The Engine Room, Dudley House and the Town Hall.
Several years ago the master plan for the Arts precinct identified that a 1000 seat auditorium was needed. The Bendigo Senior College was also looking a building a large auditorium, so the 2 projects were combined to develop the heritage gaol into the new theatre.
This project will allow major events to be hosted in Bendigo and provide improved learning opportunities for the college students.
There are several spaces that can be utilised – the auditorium, a drama studio, dance studio, sculpture courtyard, performance courtyard, music learning studio, learning kitchen and school cafeteria.
David showed photos of the progress of the building from the beginning to this week’s progress. He spoke about the development of the fly tower. With the large expanse of blank walls, a topographical map of when Bendigo started to be mined was embossed into the concrete walls to soften the visual impact.
During the build, an underground spiral staircase was discovered. This will be preserved and showcased in the new building.
David spoke about the opportunities to support the theatre. The funding provided is for the building. Funds need to be raised to provide the special items like a grand piano.
Even though the project isn’t due to be finished until next year, there are already functions booked that will cater to large crowds.
Have a great week and we will see you at Club Forum next week.

This is a story which is perfectly logical to all males:
A wife asks her husband, "Could you please go shopping for me and buy one carton of milk, and if they have eggs, get 6."
A short time later the husband comes back with 6 cartons of milk.
The wife asks him, "Why the hell did you buy 6 cartons of milk?"
He replied, "They had eggs."
A Mafia Godfather finds out that his bookkeeper, Guido, has cheated him out of $10,000,000.00.
His bookkeeper is deaf. That was the reason he got the job in the first place. It was assumed that Guido would hear nothing and would therefore never have to testify in court.
When the Godfather goes to confront Guido about the missing $10 million, he takes along his lawyer, who knows sign language. The Godfather tells the lawyer, "Ask him where the money is."
The lawyer, using sign language, asks Guido, Where's the money?
Guido signs back, "I don't know what you are talking about." The lawyer tells the Godfather, "He says he doesn't know what you are talking about."
The Godfather pulls out a pistol, puts it to Guido's head and says, "Ask him again or I'll kill him!"
The lawyer signs to Guido, "He'll kill you if you don't tell him."
Guido trembles and signs back, "OK! You win! The money is in a brown briefcase, buried behind the shed at my cousin Bruno's house."
The Godfather asks the lawyer, "What did he say?"
The lawyer replies, "He says you don't have the guts to pull the trigger."
