Wednesday changeover was a terrific night, great music and fellowship and an opportunity to reflect on the wonderful work we do. I am taking the liberty to prepare one final Bulletin report before Conor takes over the space.
Thanks to everyone particularly family and friends who attend the changeover and for those involved in organising the night, particularly Judy, Liz, George, John, Gerard and Conor a special thanks.
It was terrific to see Immediate Past District Governor Julie Mason whos passion for Rotary is an inspiration to us all. Adele, a teacher was so inspired she said to me I want to work for Julie. Don’t worry we are not moving to Wyndam.
Guest Rotarians included, Assistant District Governor Greg Noonan, cluster club Presidents Glen Reilly Bendigo and Tony Plant, Bendigo South and Past President Peter Kilpatrick, Bendigo Strathdale.
It was also great to have John Forbes “Forbesy” and his wife Fay who presented a cheque to the Club for $3,000 being Martin’s half the proceeds from the sale of his Book and Senior Sergeant Craig Gaffey who received a cheque from our own Martin Ruffell for $3,000 for the Blue Ribbon Foundation, Johns half of the proceeds.
As my penultimate duty as President It gave me enormous pride to be able to present two Paul Harris Fellows to Doug Lougoon and Graeme Lynas, two outstanding servants of Rotary and the Community. Congratulations Doug and Graeme.
I think I can safely say I am the first President to Induct someone standing in a bin and singing to the moon, trust me you had to be there. Congratulations Conor, we all look forward to your year ahead and will be here to support you along the way. Conor outlined the goals for the club moving forward and introduced his board under the revised structure before finishing by welcoming our first Friend of Rotary Greg McBain to the club.
Next week on Wednesday 13 July we will be catering for the HALT “Hope assistance for Local Tradies” breakfast at the Bendigo Kangan TAFE Charleston Road Campus. Please enter from LLOYD ST around the back of the campus, you could call it the tradies entrance… If we could be there at 7.00am to ensure everything is ready and cooked for the 8:00am rush.
I also need a few Rotarians to assist with the Bendigo Victory Reclink Football Team Home game Sausage sizzle on Wednesday 13 July from 12:30pm. This is their final home game in Bendigo (they have 2 more in Sunbury) so if you get a chance come out and turn a sausage, you’ll be glad you did. The game is played at the Cal Gully Oval off Nelson St, Eaglehawk.
