President’s Report

Back at Tennis Centre this Week.
Many Thanks to all who helped for the Australia Day Celebrations before i.e. setting up and marking up stall sites, during the actual day, setting up, also fairly hot cooking at the BBQ site and after with all the clean-up. Special thanks to Pete and Ted a huge amount of planning and negotiations is involved prior and during the event.

Quite impressed with the Girton Volunteers (see below) with their wiliness to participate and problem solve. Great feedback from stallholders, all’s good for that generation coming through.
Extremely proud of all members and a few Rotary friends, to being able to adapt to new venue and heat. Overall I personally thought the day went off extremely well. The committee after analysing the outcomes of the event, will report back to the Club in the coming weeks.

Quote from Ted, “The crowd was OK I thought, but not great, no doubt the heat and we packed up early at 2 pm
My straw poll of stallholders had 15% happy and had great day, 25% said business was poor while the rest said OK or at least about what they expected given the day.”

N.Y.S.F. students successfully completed their program last week, with one week face to face and the other via; Zoom. Also the R.Y.L.A. program to be held at Camp Getaway in February, has being cancelled due to Covid concerns.

Club apparel is at Chris’s. Please ring Chris for pick up or new orders I believe caps are on the way.
Camp Getaway
Fellow Board Members and Camp Supporters,
A working bee at the camp is scheduled for Sunday 13th February 2022 commencing at 9:00am and, weather permitting, concluding around 3:00pm.
Please advise your attendance or otherwise by return email by 5:00pm on Thursday 10th  February to enable approprite catering arrangements to be organised.

Kind Regards

And finally the cleanup
>>>>>>>>>>>>....................................>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>...............................................>>>>>>>>>>>>>
As discussed at our last Cluster Meeting the postponed 'For A Meal' event has now been rescheduled and further negotiated to reflect our clubs' reduced capacities to meet the costs involved.  The event will be held over one day only - this reduces the travel and by consolidating the event in this way we are able to still cater to two different shifts and accommodate members from all clubs.  So this has resulted in a saving of $2,000 thus bring the cost down from $825.00 to $625.00 per club.

The plan is -

Event to be held on Saturday 19th February, 2022 at the Mechanics Facility, 8 School Street, California Gully.  There will be two packing 'sessions' throughout the day and each club will be invited to have Rotarians or volunteers attend on their behalf.

Participating members from the Rotary Club of Canterbury are keen to take this opportunity to have an interclub social event on the Saturday evening so if one of our Cluster clubs wants to take on arranging a Saturday evening event please let me know.

I'll distribute some additional details in a couple of weeks but I wanted to get this out so as all clubs could 'save the date'.

Looking forward to the year ahead,

Regards,
