Industry Visit - Wednesday April 29

The next industry visit will be to the Bendigo Botanic Gardens (White Hills) on Wednesday April 29th at normal meeting time 7.15am for 7.30am. Activity will include a walking tour of the heritage section of the gardens followed by breakfast around 8.30am at Omari (nearby in Hamelin Street). This is not a strenuous walk by any means however it's a good idea to wear comfortable shoes.

We will meet at the Hamelin Street entrance to the gardens at 7.15 am for 7.30am. The entrance is beside the White Hills Swimming Pool near the Omari restaurant. There is plenty of parking in Hamelin Street and around the corner beside The Garden of the Future. Feel free to invite family members and friends of Rotary.

Co-President's report
Co-Presidents Report for April 8th

What a wonderful Easter – magnificent weather, crowds and volunteers who joined us.
Well done to the Fundraising team – market and BBQ and to all our members who ensured the day went so well.
From Ray’s impromptu exit survey on Good Friday, we received overwhelmingly positive reports and congratulations from the stall holders on how well they did and how well the day was run.
On the Thursday night prior, President Cathie represented our Club at the civic reception to recognise the Bendigo Easter Fair Society’s 100-year celebration.

There is an exhibition in the Living Arts Space at the Bendigo Visitor Information Centre called Custodians of Our Grand Fair that is worth seeing.

We are back at Peppergreen Farm next week.

Thanks to those members that are available for next Wednesday's (15/4) RecLink BBQ. Paul H is still looking for a crew for the second BBQ on the 29th April.

A Personal Reflection on the Rotary Leadership Institute Course

An article from Colleen McCarthy, Bendigo Sandhurst Rotary

Is Leadership in Rotary About Position — Or Participation:  Earlier this year, I attended the Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI).  It delivered an engaging leadership course designed to strengthen knowledge and confidence within Rotary. The program is structured into four parts, each exploring different aspects of Rotary and effective leadership.

Congratulations Colleen on a great article.
Malaysian teachers - date change, hosts needed

Our Rotary Clubs ensured that the 2024 training program for eight visiting Malaysian Special Education teachers was a great success.  The Malaysian education department recognised the value of the visit and later welcomed our two local teachers, who visited Malaysia for two weeks in early 2025 to pass on their skills and experience.

We can now continue the program with a visit by another eight Malaysian teachers in 2026.  It is planned that four of the teachers spend four weeks in the Bendigo special schools and the other four spend their time in Echuca.  We expect the Bendigo-based teachers to arrive in Bendigo on Thursday 6 August and leave on Saturday 5 September 2026.  Each of the Bendigo-based teachers will be located at either the Bendigo Special Developmental School or at Kalianna School for their full four weeks.  They will need to be transported to and from their school.  Please let me know if you can home host one or more of the teachers during that time and for how long.

I can be contacted by phone (0416 192 032), email (lj@joll.net) , Message or WhatsApp - I indicated the last two in case I am travelling.
