Last week we  welcomed  former member Leah Sertori in her role as Executive Officer of the Bendigo Business Council with communication and events manager Jacinta Mangan.
Bendigo Business Council "BBC" was formed around 19 years ago as a merger of the Bendigo Chamber of Commerce and the Central Victorian Business Network.

BBC continues to increase its membership both in number and diversity and currently has over 600 members with an aim to reach the 1000 mark in the coming years.

They have formed a strategic partnership with VECCI effectively providing access for BBC members to the range of VECCI services and enabling them to bring a number of information/training session to Bendigo.

They have also developed a  Transformational  Leadership Development Program with  Head Coach and former Bendigo Managing Director Bank Rob Hunt.  The program will take participants through  a 12 month program to develop leadership skills, increase effectiveness and grow their businesses.

The Bendigo Business Excellence awards in their first year with the BBC and they have undergone some key changes tis year.   The awards were moved to a different time slot with entries closing 31st march and a May Gala Presentation at Ulumbarra theatre .

There are a few category changes including the addition of categories for
Excellence in partnership
Social Enterprise of the year and
Excellence in strategy for online presence

There is a committee of management to oversea the awards and have a full complement of sponsors, both cash and in kind.

They have 654 nominations  with entries closing on the  31st of March

Leah was looking at how they could involve Rotary in the Gala night, some suggestions included looking after the judging or ushering on the night.  Evelyn has agreed to be our liaison with BBC to explore further.

The Easter market looked terrific on Friday and the work undertaken by the market team led by Evelyn and ably supported by Ted, George and Rob was amazing making it easy for the Rotarians at bump in to keep things moving smoothly and despite a car that found its way into the site despite the closed roads, all sites looked terrific.  Crowds flowed all day the BBQ team although not as busy as past years, kept busy feeding the masses.

Congratulations and a big thank you to all those who gave up time over the weekend to ensure success of the market and BBQ

Dont forget our next  fellowship night is this Thursday the 31st March at the Reservoir Hotel at 6.30pm.  Members, please ring the hotel to confirm attendance and mention you are part of the RCOBS .  A booking has been made for 20 people
