Welcome Madeleine Schoo to the meeting today. Hope you enjoyed your first meeting. We also welcomed our guest speaker – Ruth Hosking.

    panels
2. Organization of the Club Documents folder in Club Runner (CR). Two
applications were received and  Geoff Michell’s application was approved.
He will get some minor help from a consultant with a view to have it
completed by the end of Sept
3. LOA was approved for Stan Hendy and Geoff Michell
4. Resignations were accepted from Rob Plowman and Michelle Mortimer
5. The Friends of Rotary proposal has been completed and accepted by the
Board. The document will be emailed to the members and added to the
    Club Manual on CR
6. The July 1st meeting has been cancelled in lieu of the changeover.

Paul advised the members of the invitations that have been received for the cluster changeovers and invited members to attend it they were interested. Contact Paul for more details.
Members were also reminded of our own changeover.
Please reply to the invitation - even if you are not attending, as this will generate an apology.
Payment details can be found at the bottom of the invitation and if you don’t do internet banking, just go into the bank with those details and make a direct deposit. Include your name so we can track your payment.

Ruth Hosking spoke to the members about Planning towards Care & Accommodation Costs in our “Twilight Years”.
Ruth volunteers at StrathHaven and has been providing information to people about the changes and planning required to get the appropriate care – whether staying at home or going into care.
The application process is quite complicated and confusing and can take 8 weeks or more to get the required paperwork organised.
Ruth’s summary of her talk was:
  • Know your income/asset profile
  • Have conversations with family or trusted friend. Consider Power of Attorney and decide which Funeral Director you wish to have
  • Start developing your plan
  • Consider engaging “outside” independent help eg; financial planner who specialises in Aged Care funding and expenses
  • Enquire about the fee/payment costs of your preferred provider. Fees can be negotiated depending on your circumstances.

Ruth has provided a copy of her power point presentation and some other information that I will ask Bruce to distribute.
Included will be her contact details as she is very happy to be contacted for further information/advice.

Thanks Ruth for an informative and thought provoking talk. Some of us are starting to face this issue with our parents, so it has been rather timely.

Have a great week everyone. Cathie

CAMP GETAWAY UPDATE.......
What a great 2 days were spent at Camp Getaway, with almost all of the aims for the weekend being achieved
Tasks done towards completion of Stage 1 “the temporary kitchen”
Electrical rough in completed
South wall erected
Aircon  and exhaust shafts made and fitted
Windows cut out
Trims fitted to inside of building
Floor threshold fitted between hall and new kitchen.
I thank the following Wayne Smith, John Flood, Graeme Neivandt, Harold Simpson, Ron Moss, Ron Deveraux, Walter Lourie and our newest member of the team
Electrician Steve Clarke and wife Robyn.
Thanks must also go to the Student Exchange team who catered for us on Saturday
Our Next working bee will be next Saturday  20th June from 8.30 am where we will have the roof preparation completed ready for the plumbers to install the
roof of Stage 1. Also on that Day Bacchus Marsh Rotary will be with us and we will install the first of the 2 new Heatcharm wood heaters in the Hall.
These heaters will save the Camp about 60% of the wood currently used.
As the camp has no booking for the weekend of the  4-5 July we will take this weekend to apply the polyurethane floor and coving.
Anyone with trowelling ability would be most welcome as there is many metres of coving to trowel in. Not difficult just time consuming. Bring your own trowel.

Please advise numbers attending for catering purposes
Once again, thank you for your support

A Scotsman and his wife walked past a swanky new restaurant. "Did you smell that food?" she asked. "It's smells absolutely incredible!"
Being a 'kind-hearted Scotsman', he thought, "What the heck..., I'll treat her!"

So, they walked past it again...
