President's Message

Paul was an apology for the meeting this week, so I got to sit in his chair again – still felt familiar!

Welcome Geoff Adcock from RC Eaglehawk. Peter Rainey was our guest speaker this week. He presented a video and slides on his experiences on the Hindsight Walk for Wheelchairs Kokoda trek in April. It looked like it was an amazing and life changing experience. Thanks Peter for sharing that with us. I haven’t included much detail in the report as I could not give justice to what you presented.

Mark Weragoda is our On to Conference person this year and he encouraged every member to attend seeing the conference is in Bendigo this year. He asked members to consider home hosting and if you are willing to do this, contact Mark. He also discussed the issues around parking and he assured us that the committee is very aware of this and are working on strategies to reduce the impact as much as they can – more details to follow

Lindsay gave an update on Rob – he will be out of action for a while (possibly a couple of months) but he still has his sense of humour.
With all of the market committee away, Evelyn needs some help as there are some issues to be dealt with. Thanks to Mark and Doug for stepping in to help with the upcoming meeting.

There is a HALT breakfast on Tues 18th and Kevin needs 5-6 people for the morning. Please contact him if you are able to help out.

A reminder got people about the 90th birthday celebration for RC Bendigo. The details are on the notice board.
The recipients for the SWAP meet funds have been decided:
Bendigo Special Development School

Australian Air Force Cadets 410 Squadron
Junortoun Fire Brigade

Have a great week everyone and Paul will be back next week.
Cheers,
Cathie

A message from President Paul

It is with sadness that I write to inform you of the tragic passing of Bendigo South Rotarian Peter Ryall.

Peter was discovered in his home by President Tony and Bernie Young after concern when he had missed an appointment.

Our thoughts are with the members of the Bendigo South Rotary club in this trying time.

Paul Henderson

Camp Getaway Report

Well after a busy Friday and Saturday we ran out of work Saturday afternoon about 4pm. Everything we had hoped to achieve

was done and more, photos attached.

Temporary handrails were removed from the roof

3.00 x 1200 x 1 400 deep hole was dug for the grease trap, and the 50mm rural poly pipe crossing the hole was not ruptured (a bonus)

Fascia cladding was installed to the East face of stage 1, and under both ends of the North eaves were trimmed out. Finished

A sheet of Vee Crimp Panel was carefully removed from where it will not be seen from the hall, and was used to cover the hole by

the link. A base  board was also fitted. Finished

The box gutter was trimmed and dropped in place, with the fascia on that side completed with allowances for the rain head. Finished

The two way swinging door between the new kitchen and the hall was clad with aluminium and ready to be hung.

The concrete pad for the hot water cylinder was boxed and poured.

The temporary wall was moved into place and gapped for waterproofing with silicon.

Covered all panel with black plastic and clean up site

The sag struts were fitted and all roof braces were measured for the next section of roof.

After we swing the grease trap in next Saturday everything will be ready for the plumbing.

The earlier advertised working bee of next Friday and Saturday has been changed to Saturday only as there is little to do.

 Possible tasks

Lightly grind the floor and put on one more coat of Sikafloor 264T

Grease Trap. Box up and put in level rock base, tamp down.Lift grease trap in place. Pack rock around all sides.

Assist John Gallagher with the plumbing

Fit the sink if it is ready

Thanks to John Flood, Tom Dobeli, Wayne Smith, Ian Johnson, Graeme Neivandt, Bernie Young, Harold Simpson,Paul Kirkpatrick

Rod Hanson,   Walter Lourie, Mick Costello for their untiring efforts. Also thanks to Melbourne Park Rotary for catering on Saturday.

If anyone requires a bed next Saturday night please respond ASAP as Student exchange will be there and beds are in short supply.
