Co-Presidents' report
Welcome all

Thanks to the FUN (aka Fellowship) COMMITTEE, 18 club members and partners enjoyed a very pleasant evening on Wednesday at the Kang Thai restaurant in Williamson St.

With good food, pleasant surroundings, plenty of laughs and discussion of worldly matters, all present seemed to really enjoy the occasion.

We look forward to the rest of the year to see what the Fun Committee has in store for us.  Thanks again to those who organized this very nice night.

Ray, Toni, Allie and Julia represented our club at the Echuca-Moama changeover - see photos below.

Science and Engineering Challenge
RC of Bendigo South annually organises and hosts the Regional Science and Engineering Challenge, which is run nationally by Newcastle University. This is a very well-run event. It provides Yr10 students in school teams with hands-on application of science and engineering principles. It assists students to develop teamwork skills and, encourages and motivates students to continue to study STEM subjects in Yr11/12 and higher education.
In the past, several RCoBS members have assisted with the supervision of the challenges on the day. This year’s regional event will be held on Friday 18th August  2023 at Girton Grammar Stadium. Our members who have helped in the past will be there again, but Bendigo South have requested a couple more helpers if possible. There are 2 sessions, morning and afternoon. If you can help at either or both sessions, please advise Stew or John Cannon.

Blue Light One-to-One Program
Last year, John Cannon initiated contact between our Club and Blue Light which is run by the Police. Blue Light assists disaffected youth to deal with their problems and have a better outlook as they grow to adulthood. One-to One is a key program run by Blue Light. One-to One is:

“an individually tailored program designed to engage vulnerable youth aged 10-17 who are at risk in making poor life choices and involved in antisocial behaviour”

On Thursday morning 17th August, there will be a presentation of the program at the Blue Light “Fit Republic Gym” Kangaroo Flat. John will attend. One or two additional members would be welcomed. Please let John know if you can be available. See the flyer below.
